Here’s the thing
It hasn’t exploded … yet. Growing sunspot AR3751 has a mixed-polarity magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. Note the plus-minus-plus sandwich at the heart of the sunspot in this magnetic map from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory:

It’s a bit like an Oreo cookie if Oreo cookies could explode like a billion atomic bombs. When opposite magnetic polarities are pressed together in close proximity, the ‘squeeze’ can lead to magnetic reconnection, the power source of solar flares.
