The demo was not a flying car. It was a stunt pretending to be a flying car as a demo if they can actually make it. It might do or be allowed to do by regulation, what no other car can do. Maybe Israel will let them do it, as they are with XMoney. 😑Truthfully, Elon’s engineers can usually pull something off but it has not been done yet.

Yes, it’s real—eventually, the new Tesla Roadster (second-generation) was publicly demonstrated on October 15, 2026, with short aerial maneuvers—but it’s not a sustained-flight vehicle like a traditional flying car. (And what is an example of a traditional flying car? 🤫 There is none.)
What was shown
At a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, Tesla (in collaboration with SpaceX) demoed a prototype of the long-delayed Roadster.
Key capabilities included:
– A multi-mode fan/suction system under the car that generates strong downforce (reportedly enough to hold thousands of kg / up to ~2G). This lets it drive up a steep or inverted ramp and cling upside down.
– Cold-gas thrusters (compressed air, not rocket fuel) fed by large high-pressure tanks. About 10 nozzles (rear, front, and corners) provide thrust for short hops, mid-air flips/rolls, controlled landings, jumping over a row of vehicles (including a Tesla Semi), and extreme acceleration.
The demos were real physical hardware (confirmed by multiple outlets and fact-checks; the car was often operated remotely/unmanned for safety). Musk described it as able to “fly like a rocket” with altitude control and main thrusters. Tesla’s site for the top version states “So yes, it can fly.”
Production is targeted for 2028.
Variants
Tesla plans three main versions:
– Performance— Road-ready, two seats, suction system for grip/aero, no thrusters. More conventional high-performance EV (claimed 0–60 under ~1.6 seconds).
– Thrust— Adds rear thrusters primarily for acceleration (sub-1-second 0–60 claims).
– Rocket— Full perimeter thrusters for the aerial capabilities shown. Single-seater (space taken by extra tanks), invite-only, and explicitly not approved for public road use.
Claimed performance figures include 0–60 mph in as low as under 0.6–0.81 seconds (depending on version/demo), top speeds over 230 mph, and range over 300 miles. Exact pricing and full production specs are still limited; reservations are open for some variants with large deposits.
In short: The “flying” Roadster is genuine technology using SpaceX-derived cold-gas thrusters and suction fans for dramatic short aerial stunts and extreme performance. It is not a practical everyday flying car or drone-like aircraft, faces regulatory hurdles (FAA/road rules), and the full flying version is highly restricted. Production remains years away.
(In other words, none of the demo was real. It was fake as so many things are, having to do with Elon)

I ended my subscription to X again, for the 3rd time because he shadowbans me when I talk about my chip. Consequently, when I do have the patent and am ready to market it to Computer Chip fabs, he will not be on the list. I will not be making a deal with xAI. My chip is not safe with them. He is aligned with warmongers Pete and Trump.
