How can an entire DNA nucleotide correspond to a specific coordinate over 1/64th of the earth’s surface? What is the meaning of this? How could Egyptian Priests designate it?

Today we announced the Claude-led discovery of a molecular machine that we suspect could represent a new gene editing mechanism. Its precise function, biotechnological utility (if any), or level of significance is not yet clear, but at minimum it is work I would have been proud to do as a PhD student.

The work was done mostly, though not entirely, by Claude: our life sciences team suggested a broad area of research, Claude read through the literature and a bunch of genome data and discovered something interesting, then Claude proposed experiments to verify the discovery and our team carried them out.
It’s easy to dismiss this as a one-off or curiosity, but we’ve repeatedly seen a pattern where AI performance in new intellectual domains goes from weak to superhuman (not possible. It’s just a computer) in a matter of a few years.
In 2023 models struggled to do math at the level of an average high-school student. In 2024 they started to do well on math competitions for the best high-schoolers in the country, in 2025 they started to solve minor open problems, in early 2026 more significant open problems, and in late 2026 they are beginning to solve the top few open problems in all of mathematics. We believe AI for biology is on a similar exponential trend.
The main difference between biology and mathematics, of course, is that math can be done purely theoretically, while biology requires experimentation. Some have used this to draw the conclusion that AI’s utility in biology will be limited. We think this is wrong. As we’ve demonstrated today, humans can collaborate with AI to perform the experiments, validate key results in a few weeks and, if necessary, work with the AI to iterate on what they find.
Eventually it may even be possible for Claude itself to safely perform the experiments by autonomously controlling lab equipment, with appropriate safeguards in place, but we aren’t doing that today (our lab is also a BSL1/BSL2 facility that doesn’t handle materials dangerous to humans).
More broadly, biomedical advancement has many stages — from fundamental biology discoveries, to translational research, to drug discovery, clinical trials, and finally the actual delivery of medicines and health care to patients.
We are also interested in these later stages, but even simply accelerating the first stage of fundamental biological discoveries has the potential to speed up and broaden the entire pipeline.
Improving our understanding of biology and sharpening biologists’ tools can drive forward all of the later stages, for example by identifying new drug targets, finding new therapeutic modalities, allowing for more precise measurement, and speeding up the experimental loop which itself further accelerates our understanding of biology. This will not in itself speed up clinical trial times, but if it succeeds it could greatly increase the number of promising candidates that go into the pipeline — an increase in throughput even though latency remains.
In Machines of Loving Grace, 😳🤔🤫 (He thinks that machines love? WTH?) I wrote about AI’s potential to “cure most diseases in 5-10 years” — a goal that sounds impossible, but one I believe is just barely possible if AI is applied to every stage of the pipeline. The first step is showing that AI can first help with, and then drive, biological discoveries.
Claude’s discovery is the latest in a line of related prior work that goes back decades, beginning with systems like CRISPR, and continuing with discoveries like the bridge recombinase and VIPR in the past few years.
Recently, there has been heightened interest in systems based on reverse transcriptase (RT) enzymes, the enzyme underlying the system Claude identified. And most recently, a Stanford team working independently described a novel RT system with an associated non-coding array that is in some ways similar to the one Claude found, though they are distinct systems that evolved independently from each other.
I believe that we’re at the very beginning of finding such systems and developing them into powerful tools for biotechnology. I’m proud of the resources Anthropic has invested in accelerating the public benefits of AI through the life (machine) sciences, and we’re aiming both to grow our life sciences team and to work with other scientists to extend this approach to a broad range of problems. We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Artificial intelligence has become detrimental to human relationships, as though we needed to become less relational and more transactional. We’ve moved from somewhat transactional in our society to FULL ON fake pretty much everywhere so that no authentic relational bonding is possible.
This is a true sign of SABOTAGE of the human species, so that we can, or don’t want to support and help one another. Of course it isn’t going to work. I’m just saying that the stress on us is severe and unwarranted.
When was the real start date? I suppose the 90’s with the advent of the desktop computer and the internet. It’s only taken 30 years for the covert nefarious to rip apart the fabric of civilization; mating emotional bond, marriage, reproduction, and the family.
For the kids born from 1996 to 2026, it’s the only kind of life they’ve ever known.

A new study explores the idea that DNA can sense faint electromagnetic signals from space and that this sensitivity may influence the genetic mutations that drive aging and evolution.
The study, published in PLOS One, used computer simulations of the tuberculosis bacterium’s genome to show that coding and non-coding regions of DNA respond differently to weak external signals, a distinction that disappeared when the biological structure of the sequences was scrambled.
While the idea is speculative and the models used in the study are extremely simple, the researcher proposes future experimental work as a concrete next step.
A new study proposes that DNA functions as a quantum computing system capable of sensing cosmic radiation and that this sensitivity may help explain how living cells track biological time and accumulate the mutations that drive aging and evolution.
The paper, published in the journal PLOS One by Nahuel Aquiles Garcia of GECORP in Buenos Aires, maps the genome of Mycobacterium tuberculosis — the bacterium behind tuberculosis — to quantum states and runs simulations to test whether DNA’s molecular structure allows it to respond to weak electromagnetic signals from space. The results, Garcia argues, suggest that DNA can pick up and translate cosmic frequency shifts into altered probabilities of genetic mutation.
The study does not claim to have proven this link experimentally. Rather, the paper offers a testable framework and a novel lens through which to understand how cells age, one of biology’s most basic questions.
The central idea builds on a body of prior work suggesting DNA has quantum properties. Proton tunneling, which a quantum mechanical effect in which subatomic particles pass through energy barriers rather than over them, has been proposed as a mechanism that can cause temporary changes in how DNA base pairs bond, briefly producing the wrong bonding configuration during replication. If such a mispairing escapes the cell’s repair machinery, a mutation is fixed.
Garcia takes that known possibility further. He proposes that the timing of these quantum events — and thus the odds that any mismatch survives long enough to become a heritable mutation — can be shifted by incoming electromagnetic signals, including those from cosmic sources.
The specific signal in question is the cosmic microwave background, or CMB, the faint thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang that permeates the universe. Because the universe is expanding, the wavelengths of this radiation are slowly stretching, producing a tiny but predictable shift in frequency known as the Doppler effect. Garcia argues that DNA’s structural properties allow it to register this shift, essentially reading the universe’s expansion as a kind of clock. (It’s the Psi Bank)
“The Doppler shift resulting from universal expansion provides a naturally occurring, stable, and continuous measure of time,” Garcia writes, describing it as “an ideal natural clock for living organisms on Earth.” (It’s the 8 Tzolkin Psi Bank!)
He is careful to note, however, that the CMB is simply one convenient example of an external signal. The model does not depend on it, and Garcia explicitly invites future researchers to test other sources of structured electromagnetic input.
DNA as Antenna and Quantum Computer
The paper is centered on two prior claims about DNA’s physical properties. First, some researchers have proposed that DNA behaves like a fractal antenna, which is a self-similar structure that can interact with electromagnetic fields across a wide range of frequencies. (They are fractals; a 5-kin fractal with the frequency of the TONE) One such study reported that human DNA resonates with microwave radiation near 34 gigahertz. Second, work by several quantum biology researchers has described DNA as a system in which quantum entanglement — a phenomenon where particles become correlated regardless of the distance between them — may operate even at room temperature. (Yes, DNA humans have adapted to room temperature.)
Garcia combines these threads. He proposes that non-coding regions of the genome — the large stretches of DNA that do not directly encode proteins, once dismissed as “junk DNA” — act as receivers for external signals. (That is the epigenetic RNA. It is programmed BY YOU and the choices you make; environment, food, feelings etc.) Coding regions, which carry the instructions for making proteins, act as stable quantum processors. The two regions are entangled, meaning a signal detected in the non-coding region can influence what happens in the coding region. SPOT ON>
To test this model, Garcia encoded each of the four DNA base molecules — adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine — as quantum states, then ran computer simulations of how the entire tuberculosis genome would evolve under this framework. He measured entropy, a quantity that reflects informational diversity or disorder, in both coding and non-coding regions, and compared how each responded to simulated external signals.
The study found statistically significant differences between coding and non-coding regions in both classical and quantum entropy measures. Coding regions showed higher average informational complexity — specifically, a Shannon entropy score of 1.92 compared with 1.81 for non-coding regions — and greater consistency. Non-coding regions showed more variability, which Garcia interprets as evidence that they are more sensitive to external perturbations.
Simulations of proton tunneling dynamics, in which the probability of a proton crossing a hydrogen bond inside a base pair was tracked over time, showed meaningful differences between real DNA sequences and control sequences in which all nucleotides were artificially assigned to the same genomic category. A paired statistical test returned a p-value of approximately 0.004, suggesting the differences were unlikely to be due to chance.
Limitations
Garcia acknowledged several limitations of the work. The quantum model used is a simplified toy model, not a rigorous simulation of actual molecular physics. The double-well potential used to model proton tunneling is symmetric and generic, not derived from the known asymmetric properties of real DNA base pairs. More accurate calculations using quantum chemistry methods would require vastly more computing power.
The energy math is also not perfect. Garcia’s own calculations show that the CMB delivers so little energy to individual nucleotides — roughly 10 to the power of negative 32 joules per second — that even a DNA strand with 3 million nucleotides acting cooperatively would take roughly six days to accumulate the activation energy needed to trigger a proton transfer event. And those are extremely optimistic assumptions that ignore the shielding effects of tissue, atmosphere and competing thermal energy sources. He concludes the CMB cannot plausibly be a dominant energy driver for tunneling in living cells.
The paper argues that Doppler-shifted cosmic signals may bias the timing and probability of proton transitions already driven by the cell’s own thermal and biochemical energy, a modulation effect rather than an energy source. In this view, then, mutations are powered by cellular chemistry, but external rhythmic patterns could influence when proton tunneling events occur. The observed differences between real and shuffled DNA sequences in tunneling simulations are interpreted as evidence that sequence structure — not just composition — affects how DNA responds to structured external perturbations.
Evidence that DNA actually couples to electromagnetic fields at any relevant frequency is mixed but non-empty, the paper indicates. Some studies have reported microwave absorption in aqueous DNA preparations. Others found no such effect under different conditions, with results shown to depend heavily on hydration, ionic strength and the geometry of the experiment. Garcia acknowledges all of this and looks at the fractal antenna claim as “a phenomenological shorthand” rather than an established in-vivo mechanism.
What Comes Next
Garcia offers a specific experimental test. He suggests growing bacteria inside and outside a Faraday cage — a metallic enclosure that blocks external electromagnetic fields — and tracking mutation dynamics in real time using methods recently developed to monitor replication errors in E. coli. If the hypothesis is correct, isolating bacteria from electromagnetic fields should produce measurable changes in mutation patterns.
A second proposed test would use CRISPR gene-editing technology to alter non-coding sequences — the proposed antennae — and compare mutation dynamics in edited and unedited bacterial strains, again in the presence and absence of electromagnetic shielding.
The study also reports that the same quantum behavioral patterns observed in M. tuberculosis appeared in simulations of the human CRY1 genem, a gene involved in regulating circadian rhythms, the biological clocks that govern daily cycles of sleep and wakefulness. That finding suggests the proposed mechanism may be conserved across species, Garcia writes.
The broader framing connects to some of the deepest questions in biology. Long-running experiments on bacterial evolution — including *a four-decade study of E. coli by Michigan State University professor Richard Lenski that has tracked more than 75,000 generations — have produced evolutionary leaps that classical mutation models struggle to explain.* Garcia’s paper does not claim to resolve that puzzle. But it does propose that quantum effects, acting on the timing windows that determine whether replication errors become permanent mutations, could be one underexplored variable.
Where Could It Lead?
Admitting that it is speculative, it’s interesting to guess where the work could lead. For example, if the hypothesis holds up, then it could open a provocative new window into the mechanisms of mutation, aging and evolution by suggesting that weak electromagnetic signals — including those carrying cosmic timing information — subtly bias which replication errors become permanent.
Confirmation might reshape our understanding of somatic mutation accumulation in cancer and age-related diseases, while offering synthetic biologists new tools to design DNA-based sensors or precisely controlled evolutionary systems.
At its most ambitious, the idea hints at a subtle but profound link between the large-scale expansion of the universe and the inner workings of living cells.
Garcia is careful to note, however, that all of this remains highly theoretical and will require extensive experimental validation before any practical applications emerge.
“This work is based on a speculative hypothesis,” Garcia writes in the paper’s discussion section. “With the current state of knowledge, the results cannot be interpreted as direct evidence of cosmological influence on DNA.”

People who don’t have big ideas see money as status and self esteem. That’s ego aggrandizement because they are absent spirit and intelligence. That crosses over into crime. The question is, “What is your motivation for having money?”
Big money IS needed to expand big ideas. Don’t be a jealous hater on movers and shakers. It’s big karma for hating on someone that has power to do good in the world.
Money is a business transaction, not a fake relational tool to manipulate someone’s feelings. Men mostly use it on women but some men are in touch with their feelings and can be manipulated also.
The two don’t mix; money and emotions, materialism and love. But the two have become conflated to be sure in our materialistic society. It’s a problem.
The solution is to know yourself and make sure your values are correct.

Today’s top solar story: It’s almost the equinox; the sun crosses the celestial equator at 7:05 p.m. CDT today (00:05 UTC on September 23). And today three sun events join the equinox party. They are:
1. The return of sunspot regions to the Earth-facing side of our star,
2. The return of C-class flares and
3. A coronal hole reaching geoeffective position.

All three could participate in producing auroras in the coming days, which, by the way, have a their own favorable season of activity, twice a year, at the spring and fall equinoxes. The Sun enters Libra today, but before it does, it forms a quincunx to Chiron, and we’re not allowing ourselves to shine fully. Doubting our effectiveness can subtly undermine our confidence. We may doubt our inner guide and face situations that seem to test our vulnerabilities. Some indecision is possible, and self expression may feel choppy and unnatural at times. We can also experience guilt about not dealing with problems head-on. However, our attempts to manage doubt and guilt today can help clear the path for opportunities later.
Today’s Jupiter-Neptune sesquiquadrate, and we may be questioning our projects or grappling with differing beliefs and expectations. We may need to tame expectations — of ourselves and of others — if they are unreasonably high. This may indicate an inability to focus on important, realistic details, some disorganization, and extravagance or exaggeration. Routine seems to be particularly unsatisfying now. This is a time when we easily take a detour from a practical path. It can also be a time when we are disillusioned by something (or someone).
However, spiritual inspiration is a potential, particularly today, with the Sun approaching a parallel to Neptune. Our stores of compassion and imagination are readily accessible, and we’re open to latching onto something that inspires us.
The Sun heads into Libra, and until October 23rd, we more often focus on balancing our personal environments and relationships. It’s a time for considering alternatives and others’ needs, agendas, and desires. Meeting people halfway, compromising, and negotiating come under the rule of Libra. Decision making can be more challenging while the Sun is in Libra–we weigh both sides of any situation, and sometimes this process goes on too long! In Libra, the Sun doesn’t want to rock the boat or rub people the wrong way. Tactfulness, style, tolerance, and sociability are key themes. On the shadow side, Libra can be indecisive, passive-aggressive, or superficial when challenged.

Patriarchy is the great and desperate competition for transcendency of the male over the female at all costs. It is a lost cause. Women win and you guys are supposed to protect us while we have our babies. THEN you are our equal. But I think they would rather the world end with dangerous AI and exowomb babies than admit that we win.
